Troop 99 is a youth led non-denominational Boy Scout Troop in the Heritage District, Colonial Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We are sponsored by St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Boy Scouting is open to all boys who have completed the fifth grade, achieved the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts, or at least 11 years of age but no older than 18 years of age. Scouts who are 18 or older may become adult leaders in the troop upon approval of the troop committee. Contact the Scout Master George Burdine, to join. What is Boy Scouts? The Boy Scouts is a community program with the purpose of providing boys and young adults an effective educational program designed to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, to develop personal fitness, and to teach how to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. The troop meets at St Mark's UMC every Tuesday, 7:00-830pm.

Heritage Didtrict Awards Banquet

Heritage District Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, Time: 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM at St. Marks United Methodist Church Java Hut. Recognition for Heritage District Eagle Scouts, Heritage District Award of Merit, and other Adult awards.

2010 Summer Camp - Bayport

COME JOIN THE FUN! 2010 Summer Camp will be at Bayport from July 25th thru July 31 as this is a unique opportunity for the boys to be part of the BSA National Jamboree, 100 Years of Scouting. Because of this opportunity the cost of summer camp will be $300 per boy due by May 1st. Those boys who sold at least $1000 in pop-corn will go to camp free, for those who did not you can start making payments at anytime, just see Cheryl Burdine.

Celebrate Scouting Stamp

COMING THIS SUMMER - The United States Postal Service will issue a Celebrate Scouting Stamp in the summer of 2010! This distinctive design by Mill Valley, CA artist, Craig Frazier was recently unvealed by the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, Wash., DC.

100 Years of scouting

100 years ago, Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, founded the Scouting Movement in England. His goal was to help make the youth of the day more self sufficient and to be ready to take over the leadership responsibilities at home as well as in the communities in which the boy's lived during times of war.
